Sukkot

Sukkot, also known as the Feast of Tabernacles or Feast of Booths, is a major Jewish holiday celebrating the autumn harvest and commemorating the Israelites’ wandering in the desert.

About the Holiday

Sukkot is celebrated for seven days (eight in the diaspora) beginning on the 15th day of Tishrei in the Hebrew calendar, typically in September or October. The holiday is marked by the construction and use of a sukkah (temporary booth or hut), which commemorates the dwellings used by the Israelites during their 40 years in the wilderness. The holiday combines agricultural thanksgiving with religious commemoration.
